I recently went to theme park with a few of my friends and you know, it had all the usual stuff you’d expect to find in a theme park, rollercoasters and things like that. Anyway we had been on most of the rides and we were just thinking about leaving when we saw one last ride in the corner of the park, which seemed to be some kind of eerie haunted house.
We decided to give it a try and to be honest, we didn’t expect it to be that scary, but actually it was really frightening in fact I’d say it was absolutely terrifying. We had to walk through the house room by room and there were waxwork models of really creepy things like vampires, zombies and things like that. The thing that made it so terrifying was because there were sounds being played through speakers in each room. The sounds were like screams and shrieks; they were more frightening than the models. There was music playing too, you know that chilling music you usually hear in a horror film. Add to this it was quite dark and it was, all in all, quite a horrifying experience. We really didn’t expect it to be that scary.
Afterwards, when we’d calmed down a bit we looked backed and laughed about it. That night I fully expected to have nightmares about it but luckily I didn’t. I think if I saw a similar ‘haunted house’ in another park I’d definitely give it a try, I think I’d be more prepared next time. I doubt I’d find it as scary as the time I just described.

OK, so actually there’s a law in my country about drink-driving and I’m not sure when it was first introduced or how long it’s been in place but most people seem to be aware of this law. I think anyone who watches TV will be well aware of it because throughout the day on every TV channel you’ll see public service adverts warning people about the dangers of drink-driving and the penalties for breaking the law. So obviously I know about it just by seeing the announcements on TV.
I think quite a lot of people are affected by this law but in a good way. You know people in my country love to go out, to dine out with friends and when they do so they like to enjoy a few drinks with their meal. So as more and more people starting buying their own cars, the instances of drink driving went up quite quickly and it became quite a problem. A lot of accidents were caused because drivers had been drinking over dinner.
So I think it’s a really good law because it protects everyone. The people who drink with their friends at dinner are now less likely to drive (because they know the risks and penalties) so they’re less likely to be involved in accidents, which is good for them obviously. At the same time, it’s good for the general public because more often than not, accidents caused by drink driving involve innocent bystanders and I think this is the main thing, the general public and pedestrians are made safer by this law. So all in all, I’d say without doubt it’s a really good law.

解析：
人物类难题之一，被难倒的同学很多都是因为没有想到怎么把这个题与自己准备过的相对比较容易的题结合起来。其实，如果你准备过一个体育明星和歌手，完全可以把他们移植到这道题里。对于没准备过类似的人物类话题的同学，可以选择其中一个来结合，这样就一石两鸟，语料可以相互借用了。
体育明星，可以是在sports news上看到他获得某个大赛的冠军，然后才知道了他，之前对他一无所知。新闻里面还报道了他是怎么样训练，怎么样厉害，你突然觉得多么崇拜，成了他的粉丝，想见他。相信孙扬、宁泽涛对大部分人来说都是通过这样的途径了解的。
歌手，也可以如法炮制，可以说是在entertainment news上看到这个歌手得了某个歌唱比赛冠军……
需要注意的是，这是题目是person和news的结合，如果只讲与人相关的内容，忽略了news，考官很可能认为你是背的另一个人物类话题，硬套过来的。一定要不停地说到你说的所有相关这个人的东西都是从news来的。
Example
I’d like to talk about Sun Yang/Ning Zetao, a famous swimmer in China. In fact, I didn’t know him at all until he won the gold medal in a world-class event. As far as I remember it was the Olympics … or the World Championships... I’m not sure. Anyway, I watched the live broadcast, because it was said that he was a promising swimmer. I didn’t know that, because I had never paid much attention to swimming events … you know, Chinese athlete hadn’t won a title in that game before.
Anyway, he didn’t let us down. I remember that the TV hostess couldn’t help screaming when he reached the end of the pool first. And then, in the prize presenting ceremony, I finally saw him clearly. I found out that he is really handsome with the goggles and swimming hat and I have to admit that became a crazy fan of him immediately.
I watched some of the interviews afterwards as well as some in-depth coverage about his training, his life and things like that. It turns out that he really works hard on his sport. So, obviously, he deserves all that he has got.
Now that he is my idol, and I’m kind of his follower, I guess, just like other admirers, I would like to see him in the flesh someday. It would be an honor if I could ask him to sign an autograph for me face to face. Maybe I would also take a picture with him, just to show off.
4. 一次不讲实话的经历
Describe a time you were not told the complete truth
You should say:
What the situation was

Why they didn't tell you the whole truth
And explain how you felt when you found out you were not told the whole truth
看上去很难，但其实素材很多，因为话题本身就是可以从多方面来回答的，大家完全可以根据亲身经历组织内容，但是请一定要记得用！过！去！时！
题目解析：
时态：过去时，注意时态的使用
话题内容：一次被骗或者被隐瞒真相的经历其实这道题的素材是非常多的，因为本身这个话题可以说是一次很恶劣的被骗的经历，比如说网路诈骗cyber fraud，电话诈骗voice phishing，甚至是虚假广告deceptive commercials导致你买了假货，出去旅行的时候被忽悠被宰了之类了，不胜枚举当然也可以是善意的隐瞒，比如说惊喜surprise, 很多惊喜都是需要一些white lies做铺垫的，甚至求婚什么的都可以是这道题的语料大家不妨思考一下在生活中常见的，自己经历的这种被隐瞒的经历，选择比较容易说清楚的内容讲一下就ok了。

Example：
Well, speaking of a time that I was laid by others, one thing just popped out in my mind. Actually, that was not an ugly lie but a sweet lie. I mean the person who lied to me was actually trying to give me a surprise.
I remember that was in the university, my boy friend and I were in different cities. Back then, he was in Wuhan and I was in Beijing, so it’s a long-distance love. We normally just kept in touch with our phones and laptops, you know wechat, qq, phone calls, video chat etc. But you know what, something nice just happened.
I remember that was a time near mid-term, I was busy with some basketball match as I served in the Students’ Union. I thought my boy friend was in his uni, and just before the match he told me he was in a class. But, you know what, when the match finished, I saw a man, standing outside the court with a bunch of roses. He came to me without telling me and he just showed up in front of me and wanted to give me a birthday surprise. You know, at that time, I was so happy and surprised, nearly burst into tears.
What I am saying is that it is about 19 hours train from his place to my uni. And normally we met each other in person only in summer or winter holidays as hi university is too far away from mine.
So, that was the time I was not told the whole truth but I did love that white lie!
